Oaklyn Studio has been in the making for a long time. Before we were even married, we had started the ground work on a design studio (then named Edena) for design and websites. While we dreamed big, Edena never made it off our local servers and into the world wide web. Which, looking back now, was probably a good thing. We cringe at the designs and appreciate how far we have both come in our craft.
Four years into dating, the proposal came. Nolan built a website for our most recent passion project: Fox and the Owl Studio. Within the site was the promise of marriage, love and laughter, passion and art, and a business we would eventually run together.
Fox & The Owl Studio was left idling on the runway as life took priority. It seemed that we had the passion and ideas, but not the background or finances to make it happen.
Then came a time when Nolan landed a great job! One that left us financially stable and the dream of freelance grew strong for me. I decided to take the leap and quit my full-time job to try and do something on my own. With the security of Nolan’s career, I was able to take my time and really focus on my craft and what I could bring to the table to assist other businesses.
As you probably already know, Hannah Robinson Design Studio did well in its first year! I was able to make around the same amount as the job I had left, all while interacting with amazing entrepreneurs around the globe and being a growing factor in their businesses. Seeing the success in just the first year, and knowing that it was possible to run a design studio, our wheels started turning again. Could we work together? Could we both do this gig full-time and leave corporate days behind us?
With Nolan’s web-development skills HRDS could bring new opportunities for it’s future (and previous) clients. Nothing would be impossible, and with our love and passion for each other and our work, we knew that it would transmit into everything we built together.
Dream big and leave room for God to show up, that’s been our motto lately. We believe that our passions are instilled in us for a reason, and to not listen to our hearts and desires we rob ourselves of potential joy. While we have our head in the clouds, our feet are also rooted. We know a hard journey lies ahead, but we couldn’t be more thrilled to walk it together.
