Identifying Your Aesthetic
Your aesthetic defines the way you want your brand to look. There are a variety of different design styles, so defining early on what your expectations are will help you create a look you love. (this will also play a big role in your mood board creation, which is lesson 2)
Brainstorm keywords that describe your brand.
Here are a few examples to get the wheels turning: approachable, bright, artistic, cosy, earthy, extravagant, luxurious, and so on. List out all that comes to mind below, and take the time to really hone in:
Now is the fun part! After you have finished answering all these questions, go create a secret Pinterest board!
Keep open those keywords.
When looking for images to pin, only pick those that make you stop your scroll or really resonate with you.
Look for textures, colors, emotion/feeling, typography and design.
Don’t forget that your own photography style will play a large role in defining your aesthetic, and should be included in your mood board.
While your style will continue to evolve, it’s mostly important to make sure whatever brand you design won’t clash with your current look and will grow with you.
